Champagne Bottle

Champagne Bottle Level:  Intermediate

Tools used:  Path shapes, Path Edit tool

Additional files needed:  none

1.  Start with a dark canvas, 400 x 400.  Using the path shape rounded rectangle, 2D for now, draw your shape 42 x 120.    In the path panel, under shape, change the roundness to 70.
2.  Using the transform tool, perspective, widen the bottom slightly, and narrow top as shown.  This is the neck of the bottle.
3.  Again, 2D rounded rectangle, draw another shape 86 x 183.  We can leave the roundness at 99.  Right click on both objects and center horizontally.  Merge as a single object.
4.  Keeping your bottle selected, go to Edit, Trace, and selection, and use the defaults when the screen comes up.  Choose 3D and move your bottle to a new canvas, same size.
5.  With the bottle still selected, go to your Material Gallery.  Under Gallery, go to Glass and select G04.  Also make sure to check Smooth spine and keep the border at 99.  Also on the lights, move the light so that its shining as pictured.
6.  Right click and convert to object.  Now use your blur tool to smooth out any overly sharp edges inside the bottle.

You can save your bottle shape to your Easy Palette for future uses!

7.  Using the eclipse shape, same preset, make 2 shapes; one 33 x 9 for the top of the bottle, and one 68 x 20 for the bottom of the bottle.  Send both to behind the bottle shape.  Select your bottle and the eraser tool and erase any of the top of the bottle that shows over the opening you just made.
8.  Now, switching to the outline tool, eclipse, make another shape 37 x 6 (border 2) This will be the lip of the bottle opening.  Place it atop of the bottle.

9.Cork:  For the cork, make another rounded rectangle shape 30 x 55.  Before we can make the metal preset, we need to first remove previous (glass) material.  When you click on Gallery under the Material Gallery, first click the remove material button under glass.  Then when you are taken back to the Material Gallery tabs, again click Gallery and go to Metal.  Select Copper 9 and ok. This will change your shape to 3D which is what we want.  Click Ok.  Send your cork to behind the bottle and lip shapes.

10.  Since the bottle is green, the liquid inside will appear green also, but we need to make it darker to be seen.  Select your bottle shape, duplicate, then go to Edit, Fill, and use the settings shown for the color.     Using the eraser tool, erase the top of the new shape to about half way down the bottle neck. Send to back.

OPTIONAL:  you can now go to Effects/Creative/Particle effect if you want to add bubbles to your liquid.  We'll be adding labels, so take care to make sure they will not be covered.  I used the settings shown for size, etc.

11.  For the neck label, make a white 2D rectangle 46 x 26.  Go into path edit mode and click the top straight line.  Convert to curve.  Do the same for the bottom line.  Then move the nodes so that they are just outside of the bottle neck.   Go back to 2D mode.  Now, select your paintbrush, color olive green (R128/G137/B102) size 5, and then go to Edit/Creative/Paint on edges.
12. For the bottom label, use a 2D white rectangle size 84 x 82.  Again use your paintbrush on size 5 to paint on edges.  You can now put text on your labels, a seal, or any design you wish.  When complete, select all objects and merge as single object.

Here's mine in a scene I made for FSG challenge.
